Unit 30 P2
Brochures and display materials
Materials used for display purposes would have to be enlarged and this is why vector images would be best for this as when they are enlarged they don't lose the definition around the edges because they are made up using points and lines not pixels. Bitmap images are made up of pixels so when they are enlarged they lose the quality around the edges as each pixel becomes clearer the overall image distorts. I would save it as a pdf.
For the website I would use bitmap images as the website it made up of other bitmap images and the images would not need to be enlarged. This I would save as a jpeg.
For images to be put on school vehicles I would use vector images as they do not distort when enlarged to put on a vehicle. I would save them as an .ai as I would use illustrator to design a vector image.

Unit 30 P1 + M2
Projector: Epson PowerLite Pro Cinema 6030UB. I would pick this one because it has a long lamp life. It displays an image from 9 by 9 inch to 20 by 10 inch without compromising the quality. The limitations are that the bulbs are very expensive and it can overheat easily.
Vinyl cutter: I would buy the Vinyl Express Q series cutter as it cuts with 50 inch per second speed. The limitation is that it is only compatable with Windows OS.
Computer
I would buy an apple iMac with a 27 inch display screen. With it i would buy the standard apple keyboard and the magic touch mouse pad. The iMac will run all the software that i need i.e. Photoshop, illustrator. The big screen means that there is more space to see what you are designing, this will help if you are designing something big. The limitations of this computer are that the setup is expensive and the memory storage is small.
Hardware input devices
For a digital camera I would buy a Canon EOS 1100D as it has a 12 megapixels image quality and this means that the quality of image will be good. It also takes 3 frames per second with continuous shooting, this means that i can choose the best image that it took.
The scanner that i would pick is a Canon CanoScan LiDE 210. This scanner has a scanning speed of approximately 10 seconds. The main limitation is that the biggest image it will scan is A4.
The best graphics tablet is the eBrush widescreen tablet. the screen is 204mm X 127mm, this gives you lots of space to design bigger items. It is also suitable for left and right handed people.
Output devices
Printer: I would buy the Canon PIXMA iX6550 as it prints A3 + A4 paper and has high resolution printing. A limitation is that the printing ink is expensive.
Software
Image manipulation software: Adobe Illustrator is what I would chose. With this I can manipulate bitmap and vector images.
Vector and bitmap desktop publishing: Adobe Illustrator is also best for this.
Vector and bitmap desktop publishing: Adobe Illustrator is also best for this.
Photo manipulation: Adobe Photoshop is good for this as a lot of top designers use it and is has all the tools that a graphic designer would need.
File storage
I would use an external hard drive, this means that i have a lot of space to save things and can put work onto different computers easily. A limitation is that they are expensive and they can be easily lost.
